Just got back from my old hometown where I stayed for almost a week. Got to see old friends and such, all in all it was a great time. My best friends cousin, who is also a friend of mine got married so I attended the wedding. It was full of good times, happy times, and sad times. I cried a little.
But I've now decided to go a bit farther into my music making hobby. Soon I will be picking up an APC40 controller so that this can all become possible. I've got some great ideas in mind. To add to that, I less recently bought a new guitar with a paint job that I've been drooling over for a decade, the ESP LTD Deluxe EC-1000 in a beautiful silver sunburst, check Musician's Friend. Brought my old amplifier and a couple pedals, Boss digital delay and distortion, back from Texas to the barracks in California, which I have all hooked up to an Alesis mixer which I also purchased with the guitar.
To note on another hobby, I've recently taken interest into Arduino micro-controllers. If you're not sure what that is, in a nutshell think of every household appliance you own. In them there is a small computer chip in them which tells it what to do and when to do it. However, these are stand-alone chips which cannot be modified. The Arduino is the same thing, but a bit more powerful and open-source, so I can program it to my liking. It can control servos, or 180 degree motors which can be set to a static or dynamic position using a knob, or potentiometer, as well as run motors, LED lights, speakers, or any basic electronic device you can imagine.
The servos that I just mentioned are handy in yet ANOTHER hobby which I've taken liking into. This would be RC airplanes. I was always a rocket guy, and still am, but I have a buddy on base who I've gone "flying" with who builds planes and flies them often. Learning in Arduino not only allows me to progress into this, but to have a complete understanding in the entire concept of building the planes. Unfortunately, this is something I cannot rush into due to the risk of laying out a lot of money on a plane I may build wrong, or just straight up crash on the first flight, so It's going to be a while before I get started on that.
Thanks a lot for reading if you still hang around. I definitely plan to take this blog farther. Also check out my twitter if you please, I may just give out some quick little updates now and then on how these things are going. If you have any questions, comments, recommendations, or just wish to know more, there's a handy little box below where you may do this. :)
